Kindness Can Go A Long Way

In a world of negative vibes, a kindness can go a long way. When we encounter those less fortunate than ourselves, how do we treat them? There was a certain rich man (Luke 16) that had all the wealth of the world that encountered a very poor man named Lazarus. The poor man didn’t want much, just the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table.

Each day the rich man had a chance to feed the Lazarus, but instead ate as a glutton and refused to help. The dogs had more compassion for Lazarus than the rich man as they licked his sores. When both of their lives ended, one was in the comfort of paradise, while the other suffered the torment of eternal destruction.

When presented with the opportunity to help the poor, what do you choose? Numerous times, I’ve seen the poor treated badly as Lazarus. More fortunate people have refused to help the poor, and some have cursed out them out for even asking for help but always remember, a little kindness goes a long way.

When you look back at your life, will it reflect the life of the rich man, someone that is self-serving, selfish, and uncaring? You are what you do, it’s easy to say you are wiling to help others but what are you actually doing? Some are willing to help in front of the cameras but the true character of a person is displayed when no one else is around.

What are you doing when the cameras and media are not around? No matter where you go, God is forever present. Show him, show yourself that you truly care about others. Kindness can go a long way so make a decision to help someone, and it will in turn help you. It doesn’t matter if the person is rich or poor, a president or pauper, everyone deserves to be treated kindly. Be kind today!
